It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything in the movies section, which is actually kind of embarrassing considering that I want to be a film major in college. However, I do have an explanation, as invalid as it may be. Late last Summer we began production on a film called ” Nefarious Intent”, the script was written by Thomas, and he and I co-directed it. Due to the sheer scale of the script, having issues getting people to show up, and other unsightly production problems, we never finished producing that film. The school year came around and all of our free time was soon sapped by school, plays, and other extracurricular activities.
With a bad taste in my mouth from not being able to complete “Nefarious Intent” and with my Chapman application looming over my shoulder, I didn’t come up with any new movies ideas for quite a while. I wrote a few scripts here and there, but they were more so for practice as opposed to being films that I wanted to produce. Now that my Chapman application video is complete, and that we have a plethora of free time due to Christmas break, it’s time to get back into the swing of things and start making movies again. Our first project being a film titled “Chris You Got it Going On”.
“Chris You Got it Going On” is a sequel to “Most Beautiful Girl in the Room”. It tells the story of how Mike, Thomas, and James must get Chris a girlfriend in order to payoff Chris’ mounting Doctor Pepper debts. Along the way the guys join a fight club, beat up whores, and engage in a high speed pursuit, just to name a few of the shenanigans that they get involved with. The script is still being written but I plan to have it done by Friday of this week. Hopefully, we can begin shooting shortly after Christmas. As it stands right now, the script is a lot different from that of “Most Beautiful Girl in the Room”.
Whereas “Most Beautiful Girl in the Room” simply contained a whole lot of swearing and racist jokes, “Chris You Got it Going On” has much smarter humor and a more enduring plot-line. Instead of using the mockumentary style format of “Most Beautiful Girl in the Room”, I plan to use a more cinematic approach to “Chris You Got it Going On”. While the mockumentary style of “Most Beautiful Girl in the Room” was funny, and certainly easier to shoot with, it ultimately detracted from the story because it limited the way that I could present the plotline. By using a more cinematic approach this time around, I’ll be able to implement more style into the story, and will hopefully be able draw more attention to the characters and plotline, as opposed to the crazy situations that the characters find themselves in. The approach will be different, and certainly more sophisticated, but if done properly it will present a film that has more style, maturity, and humor than “Most Beautiful Girl in the Room”.
All things considered, “Chris You Got it Going On” will be a huge challenge for me as a director. My last four films (Message In a Bottle, Stalker, Stalker 2, and my Chapman Application) were all experimental. I’m hoping to cultivate the various techniques that I developed while making those films, and put them into a well made narrative. Look for “Chris You Got it Going On” to be released sometime shortly after Christmas Break.
Give me a day with a final copy of your film and I’ll orchastrate it. Or at least let me try.
Seeing as how you can’t even spell “orchestrate” properly my confidence in your abilities is minimal ^_^.
In all honesty though, I already have 90% of the movie’s soundtrack picked out. It’s nothing personal, I just don’t think this movie necessitates an original score.
However, I may just take you up on this offer on one of my other movie ideas.
